It’s back to school time again and BANA is pleased to present our two new Post-Secondary Practicum Students.

Jade Piper is currently a fourth year Social Work student at the University of Windsor. She is completing her placement hours here with us at BANA in the intake department. Jade hopes to go onto grad school after completing her undergrad, with an interest for clinical social work practice thereafter.

Jade is originally from a small town on the South Shore of Nova Scotia where she spent most of her childhood in very close proximity to the ocean. Jade has a passion for working with several vulnerable populations including women with substance use disorders, and survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence.

She is currently the Director of Consulting for The Liberty Project, a student run program that mentors women coming out of those very challenges in life.  Jade is looking forward to her time with us at BANA and believes with certainty that she will learn and grow exponentially here as an aspiring social work practitioner and professional.

Lauren Deschamps grew up in Tecumseh and have obtained diplomas in both the Educational Support and Child and Youth Care programs through St. Clair College. She then transferred to the University of Windsor and received my Bachelor of Social Work degree.  Lauren is currently enrolled at Wayne State University as a Master’s of Social Work Candidate.

She loves helping those in need, and has a passion for empowering others reach their goals. Lauren has had numerous placements working with different populations, and was drawn to BANA after seeing a loved ones struggle with eating disorders. She looks forward to learning from and supporting clients here at BANA.

In her free time she enjoys playing video games, reading poetry, and cuddling with her two cats.
