Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association (BANA) requires a PART-TIME REGISTERED DIETITIAN (#RD-6-24)
(21 hours/wk Permanent)
Salary range $37.60-$43.26

Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association is seeking applicants for a part-time REGISTERED DIETITIAN in the outpatient clinical program. This position would commence immediately.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION
In addition to internal clinical services, BANA is also a partner, along with Windsor Regional Hospital and the Windsor Essex Community Health Team on an Intensive Outpatient Program is for individuals aged 16 years and older with serious eating disorders who have not successfully responded to less intensive programs or for patients ‘stepping down’ from more intensive treatments.

The Registered Dietitian functions as a member of the inter-professional Eating Disorder team and performs nutritional assessments, development of client-focused nutritional plans, health education/counseling, and other clinical activities according to the College of Dietitians of Ontario standards of practice. In addition to services to BANA Clients, this position will provide support to the Intensive Outpatient Program in partnership with WECHC-THC and WRH.

The Registered Dietitian will also:

• Assess client nutritional status by gaining an understanding of psychological outlook, cultural background, and clinical profile.
• Develop nutritional plans incorporating health, culture, and income and provide written and verbal instructions to clients, translating scientific information about food into practical dietary advice for people with Eating Disorders.
• Educate and advise a wide range of clients with Eating Disorders on the practical ways in which they can improve their health by adopting healthier eating habits.
• Contribute to file documentation, clinical rounds, and progress report to referring/non-referring physicians or primary health care providers.
• Ensure ongoing nutritional care by maintaining up-to-date medical records, monitoring clients’ progress on a regular basis, and providing nutritional counseling to other BANA staff and community agencies working with clients who may need nutritional care.
• Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of education, and counseling of diet and nutrition for clients with Eating Disorders.
• Identifying needs within the community developing programs that address those needs, and participating on BANA committees as needed.
• Establish and maintain links and develop partnerships with other resources as well as the general public.
• This position also requires representation at community and agency events.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Three to five years of clinical counseling and community nutrition experience.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to undertake nutritional counseling (individual and group).
• Strong knowledge of nutritional issues affecting clients, thorough knowledge of community-based health care and resources.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member within an evolving role in an inter-professional environment.
• Strong commitment to health promotion, community development, and adult education.
• Ability to work some evening shifts
• Must be able to work in a variety of social and physical settings.
• Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills, with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Bilingual (English/French) language skills are an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Clean driver’s abstract and a current and valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License with reliable transportation to support travel throughout Windsor-Essex County.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from a recognized university.
• Eating Disorder experience is preferred but not necessary (training will be provided).
• Member in good standing and current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
• Completion of a Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to commencing employment.
