Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association (BANA) requires a permanent FULL TIME REGISTERED SOCIAL WORKER (35 hours/week) This position would commence immediately.

Position Summary:

The Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association (BANA) is a not-for-profit, registered charity, community-based organization servicing Windsor-Essex County in Ontario, Canada. Since 1983, we have been committed to the provision of specialized treatment, education and support services for individuals affected directly and indirectly by eating disorders.

The Registered Social Worker functions as part of the interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong therapeutic skills, the ability to work in a supportive and collaborative team, a passion for continuing education, and the desire to have a meaningful impact on the community members and clients whom we work with. The ideal candidate will be open to working flexible hours including some evenings and weekends. Job responsibilities include ongoing support, and coordination of care with other members of the client’s team. Other responsibilities include managing referrals (ex. managing Ocean eReferrals), completion of psychosocial assessments, case management, discharge and follow-up planning, ongoing participation with a multidisciplinary team, community advocacy, community presentations, statistical reporting, and attendance within the Intake and Assessment Working Group. This position also requires representation at community and agency events. Competitive group benefits package is included.

This position also offers the potential opportunity to work collaboratively with community partners in the Intensive Outpatient Program.

Key Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • An MSW degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work or a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
  • The applicant(s) must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in adult mental health
  • Previous experience working with eating disorders is an asset
  • CBT training is an asset
  • Experience working with trauma and PTSD is an asset
  • Demonstrates skills in the performance of a therapeutic role, including strong assessment, counseling, case management, and discharge planning skills is required
  • Demonstrates effective communication, problem-solving, advocacy, crisis intervention, and teamwork skills
  • Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, under pressure, and within a changing environment
  • Demonstrates capabilities for organization and planning
  • Demonstrates critical, analytical thinking and a capacity for problem-solving
  • Demonstrates personal qualities such as integrity, professionalism, reliability, adaptability, and flexibility
  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Social Work philosophy and goals, i.e. Cultural sensitivity, respect for individualization, and self-determination
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct individual and group counseling/educational programs and workshops
  • Must be able to maintain timely and thorough documentation
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to provide a valid police clearance (vulnerable persons)
  • Bilingual: French and English both written and spoken is an asset

Compensation:

  • Salary: $37.60-$43.28 per hour, 35 hours per week
