EveryBODY Has A Voice

Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ages, classes, abilities, races and ethnic backgrounds. In fact, over 1 million Canadians struggle with eating disorders. Although this is true, there is still a lot of misinformation, stereotypes and myths about this disorder that exist in society.

We are encouraging people from our community to take our Positive Body Image Pledge. With the increased use of social media, we are inundated with images of unattainable body ideals and the pressures to reach them. Research tells us that this consequently has a negative effect on our own body image and self-esteem. By taking the pledge, you are recognizing this but making the promise to do your best to love and accept yourself as is and to treat your body with respect, despite what society is telling us we are supposed to be. We hope to encourage greater acceptance of body diversity and being ourselves on social media, as well as, showcase that no one is exempt from having body image concerns.

Take the pledge and tag us @banawindsor to show your support, or encourage friends, family or co-workers to do the same. The pledge can be found here. Use the hashtag #everyBODYhasavoice!
