Clinical Services

Please note: as a result of the recent pandemic, there has been an increase in demand for eating disorder treatment across the province of Ontario. Eating disorder treatments for all ages are currently experiencing longer wait times; both BANA (adults) and weCHC-Teen Health (adolescents) are facing service delays.

For ADULTS:

Currently, we are booking assessments into the month of: February 2022
Our current wait time for treatment, once assessment is complete, is approximately: 10 months

For Adolescents:

Wait times for adolescent services may vary, and are determined by the Teen Health Centre.

For PARENTS:

If you are a parent seeking more information, please contact the Teen Health Centre, or alternatively browse our resource page under the drop-down menu “Family and Friends”. Please note, BANA does not treat individuals under the age of 20; adolescents are referred to the Teen Health Centre.

For all individuals seeking support, we recommend regular medical monitoring with your primary care practitioners while you await our services in order to monitor and ensure your safety.

We apologize for the delays; we are working hard to manage and reduce our current wait times. Thank you for your patience.

Individual Therapy Sessions

BANA offers outpatient, specialized eating disorder treatment programs for adults, age 20 and older.

Clinicians provide individual treatment, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), or an abbreviated version of this therapy (CBT-T).

Both CBT-E and CBT-T aim to target disordered eating, as well as maladaptive cognitions and behaviours around food, eating, weight and shape. The ultimate goal of treatment is to normalize eating, reduce symptoms, and work towards body acceptance.

Whereas CBT-E focuses more on cognitive approaches for change, CBT-T creates change with more of a behavioural approach. Recent research has demonstrated that CBT-T yields similar results to CBT-E but in half the time.
