The Windsor Essex Intensive Outpatient Program (WEIOP) in partnership with the weCHC and Windsor Regional Hospital; delivers specialized group treatment for individuals aged 16 and older recovery-focused support for complex eating disorders. Over an 8-week intensive phase (12–18 hours per week), participants engage in structured, evidence-based group therapy designed to normalize eating, restore weight, and target factors maintaining disordered behaviors.
Core Group Offerings
• Education Group: Provides psychoeducation on topics closely linked to eating disorders, including mood management, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, procrastination, and interpersonal relationships. Participants practice mindful self-compassion, meditations, and guided exercises to build emotional resiliency.
• Coping Skills Group: Grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), this group teaches practical strategies across four core domains: mindfulness to increase mental clarity; distress tolerance to accept difficult situations; emotion regulation to identify and process emotions; and interpersonal effectiveness to manage conflict and express needs.
• Nutrition Group: Delivers nutritional education on topics such as metabolism, set-point theory, the diet cycle, intuitive eating, and debunking food myths. Group members set individual challenges, receive meal planning support for weekends, and address personal barriers to normalized eating.
• CBT Group: Focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles to identify, evaluate, and modify cognitive distortions, core beliefs, and behavioral patterns that sustain eating disorders.
Through this collaborative group model, WEIOP equips participants with practical tools, shared insight, and behavioral strategies necessary for long-term recovery and wellness.
